I love this book. I can relate to the opiate addiction as I am a recovering heroin addict. I have 8yrs sober. This book is really suspenseful. It made me yell at it lol.

Grace Locke is hanging onto life by her fingernails. Recently recovering from nearly losing her job as a prosecutor, and living in a less than desirable place, she never thought she’d have to put up working for the types of people she’s resorting to defending now. Things may be looking up, however, when she gets wind of a possible career-maker case…the only downside is the accused kid is the daughter of the woman who ended her marriage. But once Grace takes the case, she soon discovers things aren’t as cut and dry as the police would have you believe and there are much darker forces at work against her client. This book really hit on topics that make up a great mystery-crime-thriller including complex characters, deep plot twists, and a loveable heroine who doesn’t allow the world to beat her down! Highly recommended!… (plus d'informations)

This book is an arm-chair gripper from page 1. The action in the plot grab you from the court scene in Chapter 1. It's kind of seedy and grody but she's trying to change things around. We all have to hit bottom. She hits it HARD. These characters are fantastic. I felt like I was reading a seedy detective/court novel. It was fantastic because I'm a huge fan of these. I love it when the actions continues throughout the whole novel. It keeps the action fast and involved. The story is great. Well- done, I'd recommend it.… (plus d'informations)

The best book I have read in years. Miller's picturesque wording is like a drug. Reading every book should be this enjoyable, but only Miller can give a description of everyday mundane things in a humorous and vivacious manner. The story line, and plot, and predictable but still enjoyable ending, was even better. But I'll tell you this: Miller's picturesque prose would make me look forward to read a manual for a toaster if she wrote it.
