This legend has been passed down through generations to explain how Raven came to help the Native Americans and bring them the sun, moon, stars, water, and fire. It also explains why he is a black bird. There is really no setting for this book. It is not specific to any time or place, other than bringing back these natural elements to the people. There is not a specific time in history that this would have happened, nor a specific place.
