Between Us: How Cultures Create Emotions par Batja Mesquita
The author proposes that, similar to the way a society may value the group or the individual, emotions can be theorized as MINE (Mental, INside the person, and Essentialist) or OURS (OUtside the person, Relational, and Situated). As a reader who was born into a family from a collectivist society but raised in a WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) country, I can appreciate the veracity of both models, but I admit it is difficult not to see a difference between how I "feel" an emotion and how I express it or "perform" it with others.… (plus d'informations)
