A prequel even though the second book in the trilogy...this covers White Bison Calf and Spotted Cats passage to Turtle Island after the death of most of The Painted Earth people as well as the authors interpretation of the story of the first people, moon cycles and other rituals and beliefs. An overall good book.

This tells the story of the coming of the white Buffalo woman and how her teachings changed the native american tribes as well as prophesied the coming of foreigners, the rainbow people and a rebirth of spiritual life.
