Written before the mass evacuation of Hurricane Rita and the devastation of New Orleans & Mississippi by Hurricane Katrina, SURGE follows multiple characters along the Harris/Galveston County Gulf Coast during a Cat 5 Storm named Dolly.

In an easy style, Rod Tanner breathes life into his many characters as they become aware, ignore, and are suddenly confronted with Hurricane Dolly, "the big one" that forecasters have warned us about for years.

Readers familiar with Galveston and the Mainland will be thrilled to identify roads and locations, and shocked to learn their fate as Dolly roars ashore in a very realistic accounting. The familiarity makes the book more exciting, more intense, than reading about the 1900 Storm.

The concurrent stories of each character are intriguing and realistic, while the book is written in an easy, rolling, tone, with some adult language and situations.

Once Dolly roars ashore - no one is safe - so don't get too attached to any particular characters. This was a fun book to read.
