- He is listed in Preachers of Today, Vol. 1, 1952, 224. A minister of the gospel of Christ for more than sixty-two years.
In his early years as a gospel preacher he taught in the public schools of East Texas. During his early years he met and was taught the truth of God by the late Brother C. D. Record (1877-1945). Brother McKenzie's labors began at the old Jamestown, Smith County, Texas church at the age of seventeen. His last sermon was preached at the Cross Roads church in October 1979 at which time he knew the end was near. This was the date of his sixty-second anniversary in the pulpits of America. His life's work carried him to Wills Point, Iowa Park, Pampa, Dallas, Tyler and Leonard all in Texas. Then Hugo, Oklahoma; Chicago, Illinois, for seven years; Montgomery, Alabama; Monroe, Louisiana, fourteen years; the last eight years he served the historic, Cross Roads church near Grand Saline.
