Darren McGettigan was produced a workmanlike study of Richard II's two irish expeditions.It is very much a study of the position of several Irish tribal kings and how they related to the irruption of Richard's armies into the rather claustrophobic arena of Irish politics. After giving a sympathetic portrait of Art MacMurchadha of Leinster, there is very little revealed of Richard, and how his Irish involvement had effect on his kingship in Ireland, or back in England. However, if you are a Leinster loyalist, you will find the book of interest. It is not a book for the general reader, unless equipped with a good background in Irish geography or genealogy. I found no useful material on the organization of the Irish tribal states or the English colonists, either would have rendered the book of more value.… (plus d'informations)
