A memoir that will be enjoyed, especially by Iowans and Danish-Americans.

This is an overview of Saint Patrick and his times. I learned some new things. I did not know he left behind two letters. I wish the letters would have been included in the book. I liked the question and answer section at the end of the book.

Unbreakable Dolls of Arizona by Julie McDonald tells very interesting takes of women at the turn of the century or there about. The stories are fascinating to me because I know that this may be just a tiny glimpse into the past, there is probably hundreds of stories so similar to this that we'd just don't know about! I love to learn how people really lived and died.

Lighthearted stories about women of Danish heritage based on real life events of McDonald, her mother, and grandmother. Lots of dialog and spunky gals. Life was not always easy, however. Each of the women lost her husband at a young age and had to raise her family alone.
Since my great-grandmother was also a Danish immigrant, I was very interested in reading this, and it didn't disappoint. I appreciated the little gems which describe cultural customs.
This is a collection of chapters from 3 previous books. It was a little confusing at first, when I tried to follow who the different people were. It was easier once I started just taking each chapter as a separate story. I am, however, highly motivated to read the full novels from which these were excerpted.
