I really liked the book "Sea Creatures" for many reasons. One of the first things I noticed and really liked was how the book had main text that was larger, "Did You Know" bubbles, extra facts in speech bubbles, sound words, and different facts that the animals say about themselves. For example, the "Crusty Crab" page has a paragraph in the upper left corner that has some basic information, a fact bubble that talks about the size of a pie-crust crab, "crunch, crunch, crunch" written around the crab photo, and blurbs that the crab says like "I eat shrimp and mussels. My mouth is sharp to help me bite through their shells." All of these features on each page help the reader to be engaged and is definitely visually appealing. This also relates to the type of text being used which I really liked as well. Different fonts are used and the text isn't also printed completely horizontally as it curves around the photos and is made smaller and larger. I also like how each page has limited photos. Most of the pages have just one or two photos of the animals, but they are large so you can really see the details on its body. The lobster page, for example, only has one photo on it which is a close up of the lobsters body. This also puts a focus on the animal itself and the text, without the photos being a distraction. Some other features I really liked were the table of contents, glossary, and index which all help students to find information easily and introduce them to how higher level books are typically formatted. The big idea of this book was sea creatures and some basic information about them to help students get a basic idea about the variety of wildlife in the coral reef.… (plus d'informations)
