This exceeded my expectations. The neat thing about this book is that it's not really just about video games. Certainly everything in it can be (and is) applied to video games. But the author is really teaching us all about human nature and the psychology behind all sorts of things that apply to many aspects of our lives. He also has a lively writing style and a great sense of humor to boot. Recommended for fans of Dan Ariely, Daniel Kahneman, and other behavioral psychologists.

The gaming landscape has changed so much since 2016, I imagine Madigan could update this every few years with a new chapter.
It's a very dense read, it's more of a textbook than I initially anticipated but in a positive way. I really liked the chapter recaps, and was particularly interested in the "anchoring" method of suggesting things to people.
