Kim loves horses. Big ones, small ones, fat ones, old ones; basically any sort of horses, so when she spots a coal black horse from the window of her school bus, she's thrilled. But no one else seems to see the horse, or know it exists. Painfully shy, and trapped in a new school with bullying classmates, Kim is coping with a verbally abusive father and a new age artist mother. Kim's grandmother, previously her rock, refuge, and best friend, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. With so much going wrong, can Kim save the horse only she can see? Some new friends and a newfound sense of confidence might just make it possible.
