Sweet, charming romance.

Male Lead: Damien Templeton, Viscount Woodbury, unmarried and likely to remain so. But then fate intervenes. His grandmother sends him a letter warning of her imminent demise and so Damien looks for a faux fiancee.

Enter Alix Adams, schoolteacher, random acquaintance of Damien. What is she becomes his fiancee, only temporarily, during his grandmother's visit?

A firm 2.5 stars. This book was on my wish list for several years while I stalked it online and in bookstores until I found the right price. It was elusive but I prevailed and I finally snagged it a couple weeks ago for $2.99 (yay!) and immediately sat down reading and immediately I was engrossed. Stormy weather, empty castles, high sea cliffs - just my cup of tea. But as I read I lost any sense of time period, I believe it was the late 1700's, but that wasn't reflected in the writing. Other than the date in the chapter heading there weren't enough details of the clothes, or the food, or the chores that would keep me firmly set there. Then there was the fact that most all the characters were under the age of 20(ish) which really made this feel YA, which isn't my thing. Now, let's jump to the actual plot mystery - that was really well done. In fact, despite my disappointments, I kept eagerly turning pages to find out how it all panned out. Lots of strange and suspicious characters, lots of uneasy settings, and lots of missing persons made for a really engaging read.… (plus d'informations)
