Critiques

This is a late 19th century work which sets forth various stories of "fallen" women with the goal of presenting the evils of prostitution. While the author makes some modern day arguments, including the necessity of education and equal pay for women, the book itself is very dated. The reader will be struck by the author's claimed evils resulting from such pernicious activities as dances, the theater, the racecourse, etc.
