Just another cheesy romance. Nothing particularly wrong with it beyond being a cheesy, clichée, and utterly unoriginal romance.

This is the first book I've read from this series but I had no trouble getting into it. And judging from how much I enjoyed it, it is definitely going to be one I will follow. Zara had a hard life and Vince's visits through a portal near her was the one thing that made it bearable. Then Vince suddenly stops visiting, leaving her lonely, confused and pregnant. Many years later when she runs into her estranged brother, the truth of his disappearance is revealed. She uses her talents to help him escape, but now he's having trouble adjusting to a life of freedom. Both Zara and Vince must overcome many hardships and enemies, rediscover themselves and their love, if they are to survive and make a life together

I haven't read the other books in this series yet, but this short story can be read as a stand alone. It's a good read if you enjoy this genre, and has made me interested in reading the full length stories. Good standard of writing.

The beginning of what should be an interesting series. Being a novella, it's a fairly quick read, but I think it would have worked a little better if it had been expanded out in places. The following instalments will have plenty to build on though. A decent, original read.

I enjoyed this. The main characters are a great pairing. I like the way they interact, and how their initial attraction morphs into something more. It does a good job as part two of the series; it builds on the overarching story line without rehashing too much of the first book.

The is part three of the series and less of a standalone than the first two, but still a good story of the main characters. It ties in the previous storylines nicely, whilst providing plenty of twists and turns, action and adventure. A great read.

Part 4 of the series. This builds nicely on the previous books, including enough backstory to tie them together and remind you of what's happened prior, but not so much as to detract from this one. A good pairing of main characters again. A great series if you like your romances a little bit out of the ordinary.

~ 4 Rogue Stars ~

Rogue’s Passion is book two in the Iron Portal series by [a:Laurie London|4178737|Laurie London|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1286488101p2/4178737.jpg]. It takes place slightly after [b:Assassin's Touch|16142959|Assassin's Touch (Iron Portal, #1)|Laurie London|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1352662827s/16142959.jpg|21861176] ended. Asher had lost a dear friend and he is seeking revenge. I was a little disappointed in this book, I enjoyed it, but not as much as Assassin’s Touch.

Olivea, is a Healer-Talent and has kept under the raider of the militant forces that want to use all Talent’s wither they want to go or not. I felt her talent never got used to it’s full potential. Asher, an Iron Guild warrior. Asher is attractive, has no talent, and is not looking for a permeant relationship. I liked the softer side that we got to see of him.
Olivia and Asher had good chemistry with each other. They played their roles well. We do get some pretty yummy scene’s between Asher and Olivea. I enjoyed Asher’s dominance. The ”finger” action was unexpected and something you usually don’t see.

The world building was ok! Could have been better. I miss the other realm that the Portal’s lead too. We really don’t get much of the Iron Guild’s world in this book like we did in Assassin’s Touch. The interaction between the characters was enjoyable. Rickert and Neyla do make an appearance and we learn something about them. I liked Rand as a secondary character he brought us some perspective. Their is a little action, but not as much as I would have liked.

Overall, Rogue’s Passion was an enjoyable read. It is part of the Dark and Deadly box set. I’m interested to see what takes place next in the Iron Portal series.

~ 4 Rebel’s Desire Stars ~

Rebel’s Desire is book four in the Iron Portal series by Laurie London. We are given a compelling world, plot, and characters.

I was pulled back into this fabulous and intriguing world. The concept is great with two worlds divided by hidden portals, one modern and one medieval. The Cascadians (medieval) have something the Pacificans (modern) want - Talents people with special abilities. These two separate worlds are waring with each other. The author does a deceit job explaining all of this, but I think the series is best read in order to get the full scope of what is going on.

Toryn, is part of the Cascadian Iron Guild and has some major trust issues after his love betrayed him. Falling for him is bound to have a few bumps along the way. Keely, is a Talent who grew up in the Pacificans world. She does not know the extent of her powers, but because of them her and her sister where cast out of their home as teenagers. She’s got daddy issues and her sister is missing.

These two end up working together and as they spend more time together they both learn to open up and heal. The romance is sweet and quick with some very hot and steamy moments. The author also features some familiar faces and that is always enjoyable.

Rebel’s Desire was a good read and I am looking forward to more installments in the Iron Portal series.

I got this book as part of the Dark and Dangerous, Six-in-One Hot Paranormal Romances Boxed Set.

5 Stars ~ Assassin’s Touch (Iron Portal #1) by Laurie London

Assassin's Touch is book one in the Iron Portal series by Laurie London. This is the first time for me reading anything Laurie London and I enjoyed everything! What a fantastic amazing read! From the first sentence I was pulled in until the very end. I loved everything about this book from two separate worlds waring with each other, to the world building, plot and characters.

A successful mix of hot steamy sex, romance and adventure set in two worlds linked by a portal, one which is modern and the other almost medieval in nature. This book follows the story of Rickert, an Iron Guild Warrior and Neyla, a beautiful woman with a Protection-Talent.

Rickert and Neyla are from two different worlds, but fate has a plan for these two that will change there life and others. These two worked well together. They are brilliantly defined. How fate tells them they are meant to be was wonderful and once they hook up the bedroom gets steamy and hot.The writing is rich, descriptive and flows effortlessly. The plot is refreshing and interesting.

Assassin’s Touch had a great balance of everything that I like to keep me interested. We get Action, Adventure, Heart-Ace, and Romance. I will be checking out more books from this author and recommend this series.

~ 5 Lion Eyes Stars ~

Lion Eyes is part of the [b:Dark and Damaged: Eight Tortured Heroes of Paranormal Romance|25533863|Dark and Damaged Eight Tortured Heroes of Paranormal Romance|Jennifer Ashley|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1431556334s/25533863.jpg|45323014] Box Set and is set in [a:Jennifer Ashley|28569|Jennifer Ashley|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1235782216p2/28569.jpg]’s Shifters Unbound series. I love that her novellas can be read out of order (standalone) and give you a great taste of her writing and Shifters Unbound series.

This is a quick read. The relationship moves fast, but when a shifter finds his/her mate, that is how it goes. All the characters are great and entertaining. I like the human shifter hook ups the best in this series. I also enjoyed returning to the Austin shifters and seeing what is happening in their world.

I loved Lion Eyes and if you enjoy reading about shifters, then you should pick up Jennifer Ashley. I highly recommend her Shifters Unbound series. It’s one, especially the novellas, that I read over and over again.

~ 2.5 Blood Flame Stars ~

Blood Flame is book one in the Flame series by [a:Caris Roane|3500801|Caris Roane|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1306189763p2/3500801.jpg].

This one started out good, but the more I read the more some things just did not work for me. It is an interesting concept and world that these characters live in. There are five alter species, which are genetic mutations of some drug that runs free/un-checked, so the people are not changed by there choosing. We never find out how this drug got started and all these creatures vampires, witches, shifters, wizards, and fae got put into this world. There is a little world building and what we do learn is not nice. This world is dark and corruption runs deep in all five areas of the zones the supernaturals now live in. Many of the species do not play nice together. As for the storyline things move fast with the plot and the relationship between Connor, Vampire and Iris, Witch. These two have a strong attraction/pull to each other and they never full understand why they do. As relationships go this was fast-paced and not less then 48hrs into being together to solve who wants them dead, they are in love and a marriage proposal happens (a little farfetched for me). Also we get a lot of pinning over dead spouses and a life lost when they where changed into supernatural creatures.

Overall, Blood Flame was an ok read. It was not fully for me, but if you find the blurb intriguing you should give it a try.

~ 5 Tempted By Fire Stars ~

Tempted By Fire is book one in the Dragons of Bloodfire series by [a:Erin Kellison|3395248|Erin Kellison|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1275545823p2/3395248.jpg]. OMG, I love dragons and this novel had me hooked from begging to end.

I loved everything about this story. The writing is amazing, the world building is fantastic and the world is interesting. We get lots of surprises and unique characters. I had a good time with the mystery that brings Emerson and Thane together.

Emerson’s life has not been easy. She does not believe in dragons nor does she believe she is one herself, but she will be sucked into a wold that terrifies her and is deadly. As the death count rises secrets that have been long kept will finally be revealed. She is everything I enjoy in a heroine with her strong, fierce, and fiery personality. Thane is a Dragon and knows his time is limited, but he has one last thing he must accomplish before he gives into the dragon song. You feel his struggle, his loneliness, and determination to find justice. He is a true alpha.

Lots of action, a mystery, and romance. The attraction between Emerson and Thane builds up along the way as they both try to discover the truth. I liked how the author used Emerson’s naiveté. It brought depth to the story and her character. I also had a good time getting to know the secondary characters. Note: Their is a lot of violence in this dragon world more then I expected, but it did not detour me.

Tempted By Fire was an outstanding start to this new series. Dragon lover’s will enjoy! We get fantastic world building, lots of surprises, a mystery, and amazing characters. I can’t wait for the next book.

~ 4 Her Sinful Angel Stars ~

Her Sinful Angel is book eight in the Her Angel series by [a:Felicity Heaton|1228468|Felicity Heaton|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1366369715p2/1228468.jpg]. I enjoyed going to Hell, learning about Lucifer, and seeing him as a romance hero. Her Sinful Angel is full of action, betrayal, & romance.

Lucifer is the king of Hell and a powerful warrior angel. We get the lowdown on Lucifer and by the end of this story, you feel for him. Nina, is a human; being used in Heaven’s games, but she does not know this. She has a sliver of dark insider her, which helped her to connect with Lucifer.

Both Lucifer and Nina have been betrayed, both have barriers around themselves, and they both try to keeping their emotions at bay. What each went through shaped them to be what they are now. They balanced each other out with the full on darkness/a little light in Lucifer to Nina’s full on light/with a sliver of darkness.

The plot was straight to the point. I was also surprised by something in the plot (not going to spoil it), but I did enjoy the surprise. I read this book in one shot. It was a quick and sexy read, something I needed and enjoyed.

It can be read as a standalone, but a few of the previous characters do show up. This is my second experience with Felicity Heaton’s Her Angel series and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Lucifer and Nina. I plan on reading the others in this series, getting more familiar with the world, and cast of characters.

If you have not picked up Her Angel series, I recommend giving it a try.

~ 3.5 Stars ~

The Resurrection of Sam Sloan is a short novella #2.5 in the Beyond series by Erin Quinn. The author packed a fair amount of story into this little novella.

I was immersed. It’s a little dark, creepy, and fun. I have not read many books on Reapers, so it was a different change. Very much enjoyed!

Sam is not a bad guy, just a man trying to protect his family at all cost. The Reaper comes into play when Sam is dyeing and something unusual happens. He ends up getting himself stuck in Sam’s body. I liked the slow acclimation of the Reaper into Sam’s body. Maggie, she has lost so much in her life and held it all together as best she could. It was hard reading about her struggles, but in the end she found happiness.

The Resurrection of Sam Sloan is a unique story with an interesting concept and a little mystery.

~ 4 Redemption Stars ~

Redemption is book four in the Werewolves of Montana Mating Mini by Bonnie Vanak. This little book packs a fair amount of story into it.

I’ve tried Ms. Vanak Werewolves of Montana series and those did not impress or leave an imprint on me to read more, but the Werewolves of Montana Mating Mini series, at least this book Redemption, really drew me in. It was an intriguing tail that placed two determined people on a collision course with destiny and each other.

There where several areas that I got very emotionally involved and felt for both our leads Robert and Aurora. Robert runs hot and cold on his emotions, I get it, but it was very hard to read; especially how he acts towards Aurora at times. As for Aurora, the portrayal of her loneliness was magnificent and I felt deeply for her. We also get a few surprises, twist, and turns that add to the story.

The only thing I did not like are the wizards in this series. They seam cruel and petty.

Redemption was an emotional and captivating read. It can be read as a stand-alone.

Raging Dawn - DNF
This is a stand-alone short novel in the Gardella Vampire Hunter series. I tired, but could not get into this one. I'm not a fan of historical romances. The characters are vampire slayers and dark. Maybe I'll try it again someday, but just to many other reading options. Even thought Raging Dawn was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

This is a fabulous box set with a verity of PNR from light to dark to erotica. Something for everyone! Super bargain deal! 6 books and we get shifters, fae, vampires, death’s daughter, and werewolves.
My favorite's in this set are Hard Mated, Seduce, and Assassin’s Touch each getting 5 stars from me.

My Reviews on each book:

5 Stars ~ Hard Mated (Shifters Unbound #3.5) by Jennifer Ashley

Every since book one Pride Mates I have been waiting for Spikes story. I really wanted him to get a full length book, butHard Mated turned out wonderful and I’m happy with the novel. I love the Shifters Unbound sereis by Jennifer Ashley. She makes you want to have a big tuff loving shifter of your own.

Spike, a wildcat Shifter and the champion fighter of Shiftertown. Will have his world turned upside down by a little human women and son/cub he never new he had.

Myka, who’d been raised by an abusive stepfather will do anything to protect the little cub and make sure that the wild fighter who is his father will be a good fit.
Both will learn to protect and love each other and the little cub.

Spike is just so darn sexy. I’ll take a tattoo, harley riding, sexy shifter any day. The story is a fun easy romantic read! Myka is perfect for Spike, they complement each other and their love making was hot and sensual. The world that Jennifer Ashley creates is believable and her shifters are more then just animals they are loving caring beings who will do anything for the ones they deem worthy to love.

If you have not checked out this series yet. I highly recommend you do!

3.5 Stars ~ The Mating Hunt (Werewolves of Montana #2) by Bonnie Vanak

The Mating Hunt is book two in Werewolves of Montanaseries by Bonnie Vanak. With this being book two I did not have any trouble picking up on the world or charactors. The sexual tension between Kyle and Arianna was well done. I liked how Kyle took his time and helped her over come her past trauma.

Arianna has a phobia of sex. As a werewolf it is in their nature to be sexual as well as for them to come into heat. They need sex to alleviate the tension during that time of year.

Kyle also has a difficult past with him being a hybrid (wolf and satyar). He has been a drifter for most his life. Keeping his hybrid status a secret.
Both have difficult past to over come before they can come together.

I like to read series books in order, but this book can be read as a stand a lone. The Mating Hunt was a good read. It did not prompt me to want and read the rest of the series, but I did enjoy the story line and sexual tension between the leads. We get lots of sexual tension, hot sex later on, a bad wizard, wolf sex as well as satyar and a couple who must both over come their past traumas and hurts to be together.

2.5 Stars ~ Embrace the Dark (The Blood Rose #1) by Caris Roane

Embrace the Dark is book one in Caris Roane The Blood Rose series. Earth has opened up to many Realms and Abigail has come to Merhaine to open a bakery. With her stepping foot into another Realm and meeting a mastyr vampire has caused her body to change. Gerrod is leader of Merhaine and has been obsessing over Abigial, but keeping his distance for over a year; after all she is only human and can never fulfill his needs. We get a little action, lots of detail on the world and creatures, and a little sex(not so spicy).

Gerrod, mastyr vampire of the Merhaine Realm was an interesting vampire. Always putting his people first before his needs. He never takes time for himself and Abigail has observed this and feels a need to comfort and make him smile.

Abigail is human a blood rose; which means she produces more blood then her body needs, can eventually turn into a vampire (if she choose to bond with a mastyr), and gets some extra cool gifts. At the time she meets Gerrod she has no idea what she is, but soon leaners why her body is changing.

Will they both fall to temptation and find contentment in each other…

This is my first time reading Caris Roane and I found Embrace the Dark to be an interesting concept. The idea and plot are not bad, but the book was poorly written with some awkward sentences and poor editing in areas. It needed to be longer to get a better feel for the world, supernatural creatures and the battle they are facing. What the author tried to do was paint a vivid picture of the lives of these characters and their worlds with great detail and clarity, but there was just too much story here for the limited amount of words! With all that detail in the begging it's a little slow going. I also never felt the connection/love between the leads Abigail and Gerrod. It was lacking the hot and spicy feel to me.

Assassin’s Touch had a great balance of everything that I like to keep me interested. We get Action, Adventure, Heart-Ace, and Romance. I will be checking out more books from this author and recommend this series.

4 Stars ~ Shadow Bound (Shadow #1) by Erin Kellison

This is my first time reading Erin Kellison. Shadow Bound is the first book in her Shadow series. I want to point out that this is no light and fluffy PNR. It’s a slightly darker and edger PNR. I found myself liking it, then having a hard time finishing, then back to I couldn’t put it down. I had such a back and forth; because it's a darker PNR. Not the light and fluffy stuff I enjoy.Shadow Bound gives us Haunting Love, Loss, Sundered Love, Action and Adventure. The ending was superb!

Wow! The world building is exceptional. The fantasy is a darker quality along the lines of gloomy. The author draws us into a world with hopeless situations with just a glimpse of hope here and there to carry use to the next exciting thing. The twists and turns that happen are dramatic.

Erin Kellison put’s here characters through the ringer at almost every turn. The loss that happens in Shadow Bound is heartbreaking. The trills and tribulations Talia and Adam go through are agonizing. The author draws use into there pain and struggles making use feel so much for them and hoping everything works out.

The romance was a little flat between Talia and Adam. Adam is controlling a little to obsessive and Talia comes off fragile, almost needy, and does not seem to stand on her own two feet.

Shadow Bound is an amazing read for fans of the darker PNR. The wording flows, the world building was exceptional, and the characters struggles heart-rending. After reading this book I have to go back to a little light fluffy easy PNR just to clear my mind.

We also get a peak into book 2 Shadow Fall in the Shadow series...

5 Stars ~ Seduce (Vampire Erotic Theartre #3) by Felicity Heaton

Ever since I read the first book Covet by Felicity E. Heaton I was hooked into this series and looked forward to Antonie's story.

Heaton knows how to pull her audience into the Vampire Erotic Theatre world and she knows how to write a sex scene. The smut has a real plot and heart to go with it, which I love.

The interaction between Sear and Antione is sizzling and then freezing! Antione has some issues to work through and Sera is determined to help him through it. I loved how they connected and worked out their issues. There is some very tender and sweet moments along the way.

For Snow fans we get to see and learn more about him and Antione. My heart broke for them both and what has made them the vampire aristocrats that they are today. I can’t wait for Snows story.

Heaton also intradoses us to a couple of new male vamps. Callum and Javier’s brothers will be brought into the theater’s inner workings. I can’t wait to learn and see more of these two.

If you are wanting a hot vampire read you need to check out Seduce and the rest of Vampire Erotic Theatre.

How Knot to Marry A Vampire by Laurie London

Form the kindle world of Kristen Painter, a Nocturne Falls Universe story;. a town that celebrates Halloween every day so paranormals can live openly.

Written in first person alternating from both the male and female perspective, this charming story soon involves vampires, ghosts and a medium in a quirky tale of greed and protection.
Entertaining and imaginative.

Read sample; the start of another vampire series; well enough written but not sure stands out from the glut of these books on the market. Could be good; could just be a typical romance that got the paranormal element added in order to be sold. Sample did not make up my mind yet.

Paranormal Romance

Toryn Flynn is a Iron Guild warrior that has been shattered by a betrayal and tormented by his past. He also doesn’t trust anyone and the only thing he cares about is battling their enemies. His latest target is a mobster that finances deadly missions into Cascadia.

Keely Weber and her sister were kicked out of their family home by their puritanical father. They now run a bookstore and fortune-telling business in the underground district of New Seattle. At least they did until a powerful man in control of the area kidnapped Keely’s sister to sell her into the Talent sex-trade.

Toryn has a beautiful woman literally fall into his arms and she holds the key to his success. Keely will take any risk even with a dangerously sexy man that pushes her buttons or anything else that is necessary to rescue her sister.

As Toryn and Keely go from the city’s gritty street underbelly to an island with a sexual-fantasy-theme their passions ignite. Being surrounded by evil and time running out Toryn is going to have to decide if he will sacrifice the woman he is falling for or if he can dare to trust his heart again.

This is proving to be an amazing series that gets better with each book. The action is intense and fills the book but it still focuses on the relationship between Toryn and Keely and makes for a book that moves at a remarkable pace. While the books are connected they still tell a different story with each one which keeps the series from getting stale and will have readers wanting more from the series. It is different from most paranormal stories which makes it in a class all its own. The writing is very good and pulls readers in until the very last page.

Paranormal Romance

Zara Kane leads a double life. During the day she works at the library and is a respected antiquities expert. At night though she is a thief that steals the artifacts that belong to her homeland. Years ago she was abandoned by the man she once loved when she needed him the most though when she finds out he has been wrongly imprisoned, she uses her para-ability Talent to orchestrate a daring escape.

Vince Crawford has suffered years of suffering and torture and is now a damaged man. The beautiful boy with the sparking brown eyes he used to be is now gone and in his place is now a jaded ex-con that is hell-bent on revenge. He is not afraid of anything. This is an amazing book that is part of a series. It holds up very well on its own as a standalone but it will have readers eagerly looking for the other books in the series to read more about a world that proves to be engrossing and different. It has a lot of action and takes some great twists and turns and keeps the reader hanging until the very end on if everything will work out for the characters. The story will also having readers wanting to read the next book in the series.

Although this is the third 'Iron Portal' book, it was my first dip into the series. I got the gist of it fairly quickly and the characters were all explained in good detail so it was very easy to get into the book and enjoy it. The words on the page flowed so well that before I knew it I was half way through. There is plenty of action and steamy romance to keep you entertained for hours.
Vince and Zara made a good couple and it was satisfying to see their little family reunited after they were so cruelly ripped apart in their youth.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I'm looking forward to reading subsequent titles but in the meantime I'll read the earlier books in the series to find out more about the supporting characters featured in Warrior's Heart.

Contemporary Paranormal Romance

New Orleans, Louisiana

Juliette Bishop flies to New Orleans on a business matter for her ailing father. When she gets there she comes face to face with her former lover, Andre Lescarbeau. That is a lot more than she bargained for even if he is as handsome as he is mysterious.

This is a very short story but is very good. The characters are interesting and keep the story moving along very well. It will have readers wanting to read more from this world. Readers who like vampire stories should check this one out. Since it is short it is a great story to read for a nice break.

As a short story, I thought this was remarkably well developed and left me wanting to read more of the series. Eventhough I haven't read the others in the series it was easy to follow and I didn't feel like I was missing any information or back story. Juliette and Andre had a well developed history and so their relationship was able to move on a little bit quicker than would be normal in a longer novel and the author got it just right. There is also a good deal of action and suspense packed into this novella. I was disappointed when I got to the end very quickly because I was really enjoying it.
I'll definitely be reading more of this series.
