Lloyd D. Lewis

I'm a fan of the Virginian so I'm a sucker for anything about it. This book, part of a series on West Virginia Railroads, has some photos I haven't seen before. The last chapter, "A Tour of the Line," places photos in track order on various lines which allows one to get a good look at the terrain the Virginian went through. It is similar to what the Pennsy Power series did in that respect. More track maps would have been interested.

The text leaves something to be desired. It reads like facts on cards that were printed and an attempt was made to put them in some kind of order. The information on the electrics is good. It seems to have been put together for the publisher but the author would rather have had more time based on some statements in the last few pages. I prefer the book written by H. Ried.
