Moose Is On The Loose: The Great Escape is a cute picture book that children will love, especially if their family has a dog. Moose is a very large dog who loves to play with his dog sister. However, he dreams of running through the neighborhood to see and smell all the exciting things outside his yard. One day the door is left open, and Moose escapes! The book relates his adventures as he explores the vicinity. Dodie Leigh appears to have had a plenitude of experiences with dogs. Her descriptions of Moose's behavior and actions are spot on. I have seen my dogs do many of the same things. Janaka's illustrations are colorful and realistic. An added surprise is a photograph of the actual dog named Moose! Children will love this book.
