Unlike the mostly excellent [b:Captain Canuck Vol. 1: Aleph|29731230|Captain Canuck Vol. 1 Aleph|Kalman Andrasofszky|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1459281113s/29731230.jpg|50074697], this one tended to highlight almost everything wrong with the Canadian comics industry. Set up as sort of a reboot of the original Canuck series, it then proceeded to downgrade everything. Everyone knows who the new Canuck is. He has no reason to be Captain Canuck other than he simply feels like it. No super powers. No supervillains.

So, lots stacked against it. Then the art was mostly mediocre, as was the rushed story. In the end, it felt like it was simply a Redcoat story that they knew wouldn't sell at all, so they dressed it up as a Canuck story, only to reveal the Redcoat bit at the end.

And the original Captain Canuck showing up? Meh.
