This book is just like the many many others in its series. The illustrations are soft and adorable, and the story is just telling you all the good things about having a grandson. One of the things that annoys me about this book is, it’s always four lines per stanza first three lines rhyme, and the last one doesn’t. It annoys me and takes the enjoyment away from this otherwise lovely book.

While depicting a variety of fauna to illustrate the theme of love and joy in granddaughters and what they share with us, there is no artificial limitation placed on either side. The entire book is a love letter full of encouragement with rhymes! Excellent!
The illustrations by Lisa Alderson are delightful, imaginative, detailed, and colorful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from SOURCEBOOKS Kids, Sourcebooks Wonderland via NetGalley. Thank you!

This is another book in a series of similar stories. The illustrations are soft, colorful, and fun. The story is a lesson on why teachers are a good thing. Something many current adults need to remember. This is a loving ode to teachers that is much appreciated.

This book is entirely too long. The rhyme and the cadence are nice, but it seems like this boat is rolling across the Atlantic instead of rolling across the lake. What saves the story are the illustrations of the animals both child and parent. They are soft and cuddly and make you want to pet them. For me the book doesn’t work but for some families it well.

I picked up this book at my boyfriends house while we watched the Super Bowl. I knew it would be a quick easy read. I did read the introduction and that was interesting just to get the authors feelings on why he wrote this book.

I have seen some reviews stating that each sentence is like a short proverb. I would point out a few things to my boyfriend that I noticed his dad taught him or something that I just found funny. I also chose to read this book because I have a son and do feel that a son needs a dad, and a son also needs a mother.

The second book in the Family Matters series, Why a Son Needs a Dad is a reminder of the many things a father has learned from his own father that he passes on to his own sons as they share in the adventure of life and build a bond that lasts for life.

The first book in the Family Matters series, Why a Daughter Needs a Dad celebrates the love fathers have for their daughters, inspiring them to embrace the important role they hold in their daughters' lives and to provide the love, nurture, and emotional support that only they can give.

There are some sweet spots in this book, but it's hard to get past the "chosen child" language that permeates the text. Not a book I'd read to my children.
