There is too much speculation, misinformation, and inaccuracies in this book. On page 56 the author indicated Virginia Rappe died after having sex with Fatty Arbuckle. Arbuckle was tried 3 times and acquitted twice. This has never been proven and most evidence is against this although authors continue to defame Arbuckle over 100 years later. On page 57 the author indicates Olive Thomas committed suicide. This is another Hollywood mystery as it may have been suicide or it may have been accidental. The author needs to presents all theories. On page 59 the author talks about the growth of Hollywood as a film site due to the weather which was indeed one factor but one of the main factors was to get away far away from Thomas Edison Motion Picture Trust who had a monopoly on film making that was not lifted until 1915. On page 87, the author indicates that Joseph P Kennedy was "thought" to be Gloria Swanson's lover - this is a well known fact which Swanson confirmed both in her autobiography and in an interview with Barbara Walters. On page 150, the author indicates that Garbo and Gilbert were to be married but "at the last minute she left him at the office of the Justice of the Peace". Actually, Garbo and Gilbert were to be married in 1926 at Marion Davies' Beverly Hills home in what was to be a double wedding with King Vidor and Eleanor Boardman. Garbo never showed. This is a lot different that the office of the Justice of the Peace. Also on page 150 the author incorrectly states in comparing drinking "buddies" John Gilbert and John Barrymore that "Barrymore succumbed first. He died in 1936, officially of a heart attack..." It was John Gilbert who died in 1936, Barrymore did not pass until 1942. On page 165, the author spells Lupe Velez as Lupe Valaz. On page 180, the author indicates that actress Mae Murray was provided for in her later years by Loretta Young's daughter "Gretchen". Loretta's daughter's name was Judy. Loretta's real name was Gretchen. A photo of Negri with Sterling Holloway, Hedda Hopper, and Loretta Young misidentifies Fernando Lamas as Ricardo Montalban. With so many errors, it is difficult to know if anything that was written about Pola Negri is accurate.… (plus d'informations)
