Not just another book on keeping a journal or keeping notes on scripture. I bought this book in April, 2009 and it is always close by, it is one of my favorite books to read on journals and life. I would like to point out a chapter or two that stand out, however, I've read this book cover to cover at least 3 times finding something new to think about with each reading. Thought provoking & motivating, the author does allot more that give a topic with a few short notes so I've given it a five star:)

NCLA Review - This slim volume is part of Augsburg Book's 40-Day Journey series. It is designed to introduce readers to a spiritual guide who has the wisdom and experience to lead you on your own spiritual journey. Each day's journey includes a reading, a brief scripture passage, questions to ponder, suggestions for personal journaling, Psalm passage, guidance in prayer and a prayer for the day. This book gives the reader an opportunity to reflect on a selection of readings from two of Bonhoeffer's most widely known books--Discipleship and Life Together. It provides the novice as well as those familiar with Bonhoeffer's books a different way to explore those works, and at the same time, a way to deepen your own spiritually. Bonhoeffer is considered one of the 20th century's great theologians. A personal spiritual journey may start at any time, but Lent would seem like an appropriate time to explore and reflect on your faith. An excellent book choice to provide in any church library. Suggested further readings are also included as well as sources. Rating: 4—BS

This excellent tool for beginning journal writers as well as veterans discusses spiritual development vis-a-vis self-development, the nuts-and-bolts of starting (when, how often, what sort of notebook), types of entries, and ways journal writing can help in goal setting or time management, sticking to a devotional program, or learning from the past (ECD, Library Journal).
