Don'o Kim

This book is mostly comprised of repetitive discourses on the topic of Korean reunification. It does not work well as fiction; the prose is bland, the characters one-dimensional, and even skimming it, I found myself bored. I'm all for political fiction, but one needs to make the fiction part actually work as fiction, for the political stuff to be of interest. The prose, unfortunately, is very bland, but not quite bad enough to entertain in its badness. Meanwhile, though it could be considered SF related to Korea -- the core protagonist is a computer programmer who has designed a program to help world leaders consider the question of Korean unification -- there's no real science here at all, just vague handwaving. That might have worked for Asimov's concept of psychohistory in the Golden Age of SF, but today, readers will want more.… (plus d'informations)
