The main problem with the book is the author's reliance on verbatim transcripts of interviews. To my mind, the interviews should have been basic research for the book, and the role of the author should have been to interpret those interviews, and reshape the information gained into a solid and convincing argument on how the Australian health care system came to have the form it has now, and how it can be improved. The author failed to provide this interpretation, so the book seems disjointed, hastily written and, ultimately, unsatisfying.
