After an introduction setting the scene, this attractive book goes into the stories of the English church up to 1583 as depicted in the series of wall paintings in the tribune of the church of the English College in Rome. Keane particularly brings out how these paintings, and the acompamying text by Good, were is some senses a counter propoganda to the work of the reformation historian and propogandists Bale.

Very interesting for those who are already familiar with the paintings from visiting or living in the English College, the book is also of great interest to those who want to 'get behind' the tragic but also inspiring story of those who suffered for their faith in those terrible decades.… (plus d'informations)
