Ruwen and his friends are going on vacation...sort of. The gang is going to rescue Lylan's brother, Dalyn, from his execution. The only way to do that though is to have a solid cover - as such Sift and Ruwen are going to be entering the Step Championships.
Okay Fractal is my absolute favourite, Rami is a close second, Sift third and I adore the Savage Seven. Honestly the first match was hilarious, the second totally epic. I was in stitches. I wish Ruwen spent more time in Shattered Sun or Black Pyramid. Either would be good. He always seems to be rushing off for something else.
I liked that this book got back to more of the individual quest rather than New Eiru. The city politics is okay in small doses but kind of tiring in large ones. On other hand the quest to save Dalyn, the subsequent Steps Championships and Rami's uncontrollable urges for mystery books was fantastic. Overlord appearing was hilarious. It was so ridiculous it was awesome. Xavier is kind of iffy. I love his disdain for Ruwen but I don't know that I really like him all that much. But he seems to make Rami happy.
The friendship between Ruwen and Sift was also great. I love the banter between them and the teasing. They help each other to better heights but they also are complete and utter troublemakers when together. Plus there's a bonus scene available on the author's website that tells exactly what happened during the book heist with Sift and the priestesses and it's hilarious. Poor Sift.
A fast paced adventure novel with heart warming friendships, lots of stats and levels and fantastic characters. 5 stars.… (plus d'informations)
