1675 Saint Catherine of Siena, by Johannes Jorgensen translated from the Danish by Ingeborg Lund (read 28 Nov 1981) The author is a Danish convert, and better known for his biography of St. Francis, which I have often considered reading. But reading this book by him, I know I won't read anything else by him. I had to force myself to read this. It is full of translations of St, Catherine's mystical exhortations, which are really not too interesting. She was born March 25, 1347, in Siena and died 29 April 1380 at Rome. She was a fantastic person and her life was extremely dramatic. But this book seeks to be old-fashioned "spiritual reading" instead of letting the wonder of her life speak for itself--and so it was not a memorable read.
