Tina Johnson’s common sense discussion of sugar’s effect on body chemistry and food cravings includes thirty-eight tips to reduce your sugar consumption. A list of sugars found on food labels and a connection between sugar and salt may make the reader look at food combinations differently. The author did not provide references directly related to theories. For example, Johnson mentions Kathleen DesMaison’s work on sugar addiction, but no source for the material is provided.

This was a short quick read. Jam-packed full of stats and information, which is great. I appreciate what the author was trying to do. I'm not sure if I liked the writting style, it reminded me of sitting in class listening to a momo-tonex teacher drone on. As most people, I too love me some sugar, and like the rest, I also know just how bad it is. That being said, I did not request this book in order to find out how bad it is, I was hoping on the tips that it suggested to help me rid myself of it. However, I did not find it helpful at all. Some of the suggestions were ( understand I am not a genius on this) way off. The one that got me was drink more milk... WHAT!?.. yes, milk has proteins and will make you full, BUT, milk is full of SUGAR! And not to mention the hormones and antibiotics that are fo!und in milk. This part shocked me and I sort of skimmed through the rest, just to say I finished it. I do not like giving bad reviews so please don't concider it bad, just another form of opinion.… (plus d'informations)

I will admit I am a sugar addict. I have wanted to kick the sugar habit mainly for my kids but for my health as well. This book does a great job explaining the reasons why you should cut sugar intake. But it also gives great alternatives to look for.

This is a good book to introduce the downside of sugar to a person who is beginning research on the subject. The hints and tips the author offers are manageable ones that do not overwhelm. I really liked the brevity, as I prefer my self-help books to come right to the point rather than stretch out the information over 300 mostly repetitive pages. This author did a good job at stating her points concisely.

In my opinion, the book read like the verbatim transcript of a speech. At first I was bothered by the writing style and excessive punctuation errors. I reminded myself that I was reading the book for facts, not for afternoon reading pleasure, and pretended I was listening to a person standing in front of me talking passionately about the subject. That helped, as the author seems sincerely interested in getting this information to people and I respect that.… (plus d'informations)
