I couldn't put down this fascinating mystery!

I'm so used to deleting self-published novels after reading several pages that I was gobsmacked when I was two hours into this book and I couldn't put it down! So why only 3 stars? Here's why: I love atmosphere in a novel, and how a good writer can make you smell the scents and feel the wind. Miss Jackson's skills at enveloping her reader in a sense of place were clearly in development in this novel, and left me always wanting more, but she did a good job of it anyway. A few spots of technology that needed tweaked, plus a romance and betrayals that didn't seem plausible, kept me from giving five stars, but if you are looking for a good mystery that will grab you and not let go, this is it. It is worth far more than the 0.99 asked for. Her writing is well done and is free of the mistakes made by too many self-published authors. Highly recommended!
Just in case anyone who reads my review also reads this book, I want to tell you this: I would not have left if I had been given the choice. Read this book if you want to know what I'm talking about!

I knew that Mosaic wasn't going to be a suspense novel like the two other Jackson books I've read, Ice Tomb and Sinkhole but I wasn't disappointed. Mosaic is geared towards older teens and hits the mark unlike some YA reads that tend to shock me with the amount of sex and drugs in the story. It has just the right amount of sexual tension and relationship drama to give the book a realistic teenage feel.

The story itself is pretty interesting. Pirates, serial killers and ghosts all lend themselves to a twisting tale. Throw in a troubled teen getting over an accident, a spoiled rich girl pouting over the bad boy who dumped her, a suspicious cop who lost a daughter and an over-protective dad and you have a winner that stands above most YA books I've read.

I recommend Mosaic for anyone who loves YA suspense.

Sinkhole is a book that I can easily see turned into a movie. It has action, suspense, drama and real characters. Each one of the characters in the story had their own reasons for putting themselves in danger by exploring the caves. Their backstories are written with enough detail that you become engaged with them, even the "bad guys", but not so much as to go over-the-top.

The plot is very well done but I do have to say that the reason Mark goes after Kat is just a little to far fetched. That is the only reason why I didn't give the book 5 stars. It seems to me that Mark could have found someone to search for Kat if he would have kept looking but he took it upon himself to search for her even though he is deathly afraid of caves. It just seems to me that with his money and resources it would have been easy to send a search team in.

Overall I enjoyed Sinkhole as much as Ice Tomb and look forward to reading more by Jackson. I recommend this one for anyone who loves suspense thrillers with a sprinkling of sci-fi.
