A collection of stories from the 1950s and 1960s "Archie" comic books, mainly written by Frank Doyle and artwork by Dan DeCarlo, who does mighty fine with the "good girl" art, especially Betty Cooper. The stories are mainly fun and clever bits of teen fluff, which is what the "Archie" stories did best.

I'm surprised that I like this less than the previous three "best of" volumes of Archie comics from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. This was, after all, "my" decade, in which I was the same age as the teens herein. But the previous volumes all had a certain charm and innocence that is mostly lacking here. Although all the stereotyped icons of the 70s are touched upon here, it seems to be with the jaded eye of the "establishment" figure who does not really understand the youthful fads and movements he is portraying -- only that he can make money from it. Which would make a nice segue into the 80s, I suppose. Points for nostalgia and a teen crush on Betty that just won't quit.… (plus d'informations)
