Thanks to Net Galley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for the ARC of this book. My first impression was great. It means a lot to me when an author can catch my attention right away! I liked Indie a lot and found her struggles real and relatable. The other characters maybe not so much. I love YA books, and I have teenagers and listen to them talk to their friends all the time and I have to say that they don’t talk like these kids. So that made the story less appealing as it went on. Maybe if I were a teenager I would appreciate it more.… (plus d'informations)

Thanks to Net Galley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for the ARC of this book. My first impression was great. It means a lot to me when an author can catch my attention right away! It is about Four teenagers on a river trip, with each of them having their own story and struggles. I liked Indie from the start a lot, and found her struggles real and relatable. I like how her memories of her mom make an impact on her along the way. The other characters i didn’t care about as much. I love YA books, and I have teenagers and listen to them talk to their friends all the time and I have to say that they don’t talk like these kids. Mental health is an important issue and Waiting for Fitz includes two main characters suffering with mental health issues. Both Fitz and Addie find each other in the psych ward. Addie suffers from OCD and is working on healing. Fitz is schizophrenic. Both find common ground through knee slapping humor, opening up about their past, and bringing meaning to their present. #mentalhealth #booksofinstagram #iteach7thgrade #yareads #middleschoolela #booklove #7thgrade #7thgradeela #middleschool #middleschoolteachers #teachersofig #teachersofinstagram… (plus d'informations)

I was immediately drawn into this story. Four teenagers are required to do a survival style outdoors trip as part of their high education. I had to fight against myself at the beginning of the story because if I went to their school, I would have refused to go on such a dangerous trip and transferred to a school with out that requirement.

The scenery was amazing in its description, I felt like I was watching a movie set in the Snake River Valley of Idaho. The Snake River and mountains were like another character in the book, incredibly beautiful but very dangerous.

Each one in the group had something significant in their lives and troubling that was very difficult for them to deal within and they all held their secrets until the unfolding if the journey. Part was the realization that you do not really know what the other person going through.

I received an Advanced copy of this book from the Publisher as a win from FirstReads but that in no way made a difference in my thoughts or feelings in this review.
