I enjoyed this story but I won't rush to read another one. It was a lot of talk about women's oppression and the culture of the times. Mary wanted independence and freedom and not the life her mother had lived and yet she was niave in thinking that was freedom doing her duty to look after her mother instead of being a "love, honor and obey" wife. Anyway, Mary and the Colonel help each other grow and realize that they can have a HEA.

I've never read any Sarah Ferguson books before but a most intriguing lady has me hooked. I couldn't get enough of this book. I absolutely loved it.
Sarah Ferguson really knows her characters and knows how to caption them. It was like I was a fly on the wall during Mary's adventures.
This novel is full of adventure, mystery and romance that had me wanting more.....
I like how she added all the historical facts about that century and the area.
I can't wait for her next novel to come out!… (plus d'informations)

Great book for little girls, I think some parts may have too big of words but it is still cute and a good books.

3.5 stars (rounded up to 4) - I know much will be made of the fact that the Duchess of York is the author of this novel. It’s why I picked it up from the library. Overall it’s a decent if not terribly exciting read. I wished there was more romance in it as it’s billed as a romance novel. It’s more a coming of age storyline with romance as the secondary plot in my opinion. It’s also a little too long. However I did race through it quickly and it kept me entertained so overall a worthwhile read.… (plus d'informations)
