Lorana Hoopes

This isn't my usual genre, but I decided to give this one a chance. I found that the story was written in such a way, that it didn't seem quite like a usual Historical Romance, it was easy to read. I flowed right through the book and stayed engaged with the story. However, I didn't really connect with the characters. I thought their personalities were great, I really liked seeing so many different characters that are each their own distinct person. I just didn't connect emotionally with them. Because of that, I found I didn't care as much as I should have toward the end of the book. It was a good story, I was really surprised by how much I liked it. I will even go chech out the other books in the series since this was the first one I have read.

There were a lot of sweet moments, but there was also a little bit of action. I liked that there was a bit of high stakes toward the end, I would have loved to have a bit more of that.

A nice clean Christian romance, it is a quick listen at just over 3 hours in length.
Brie’s friend Ariel offers a bet, if Brie gets someone to fall in love and propose to her, then she will get a date with Ariel’s famous movie star brother...the bet is on!
Now Brie is a billionaire’s daughter, she has lived off her father all of life, and her lifestyle is what you would expect, partying, shopping etc without a care in the world. Until her father cuts her off, tells her to get a job and be more responsible. Her world has changed a lot and when she sets her sights on Jesse a member of the SWAT team, to fulfil her bet she bits off more than she bargains for and starts falling for him. What is she going to do about the bet?
The love story is so sweet, I didn’t like Brie to start with but I did warm up to her. Jesse, on the other hand, was everything you could want in a man.
It was written so beautifully and was narrated perfectly, I felt like I was in the moment listening to this.

This is a Christian romance with some suspense. The book grabbed me from the first chapter and kept me interested throughout the whole story. I usually don't care for the second chance trope, but this one was done so well. I actually really enjoyed it. I think it was the best one I have read. The story line was amazing. The only complaint I really have is that the book is too short. It went by really fast and I didn't want to let it go. I would have loved to have things last a little longer, maybe flesh out everything a bit more. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. It was a sweet story that never felt too heavy. A quick read great for an evening you want to be sucked into a good book.
I only read a few of the other books in the series, but now I want to go back and read all of them. I also can't wait to read the next book which we got a little hint of at the end of this one.

Opposites attract is one of my favorite tropes. This book did it really well. I instantly liked the characters together. Actually, I think I enjoyed it too much, if that's possible...

I loved how each character in the book was given their own personality. They all were so different from each other, which made the group of friends really interesting. Their antics were hilarious. The whole concept of the dare was amazing. I knew it was going to provide some entertaining situations; I wasn't wrong.

My only complaint was that it was too short. I didn't want it to end, but it was such a quick read. The pages flew by, but I'm hoping that we might see more from this couple in the next book. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.
