A cute book that focuses on all different sorts of patterns. It leaves things opened ended enough for kids to find a lot of the patterning themselves while still showing examples. It also has a section at the back that talks about different sorts of patterns and suggested activities.
"Mapping Sam" is an educational book that covers maps of all content areas. I found that this book is educational for any age, as a college student, even I learned something new. This book is also able to be engaged with in a science, history, English, and a mathematics classroom as there are different maps that explore various elements of Sam's Journey. This book could also be analyzed to a different sense, as each map could be looked at by different perspectives and made into word problems, prompts, etc.… (plus d'informations)
A science/engineering oriented picture book - Mapping Sam starts with a cats evening outdoor journey as a method to show different styles of mapping, diagraming & labeling - pretty cool. & Cats too.
There are patterns all around us. This book shows that there are so many places to find patterns. Patterns can be found inside or outside. Patterns can also be made with different shapes and even days of the week. This would be a great story to read to students when introducing patterns. It can be very helpful when showing students how to determine what is and what is not a pattern.
