An old favourite from childhood. Now they're a bit too simple for me, but I have fond memories of this book. It has different difficulty levels and a cast of characters including a naughty cockatoo. Unfortunately I wrote in some of the pages as a kid.

These are genuinely difficult mazes, lovingly illustrated. Unfortunately, they all contain a "key" to make the puzzle trivial to solve. There are usually enough hints on the page to find the key, although some of them require knowledge of Latin, and one requires you to know who Karl Marx is. As a child, I wasn't privy to such knowledge, and just looked up all the keys in the answer section. But it's the kind of knowledge that sticks in your mind, so reading it this time I couldn't forget what the keys were for each puzzle. So I decided to search for Heimann's extra details, which kept me busy for a couple of hours - there's a set of objects that's supposed to appear in each picture, like a bird, a fish and a star, and they all also contain a little picture of Australia.

It's more fun to read this and find all the little things that Heimann hides in the pages - the ones that the book tells you about like the bird's name, but also the hidden ones like a little outline of Australia that he hides everywhere. The puzzles are too easy for me now but pretty good for children.

This is a great book of mazes because it incorporates a dinosaur theme. Illustrations are very well done. The mazes are presented as interesting problems.

This is a good book but it is now a little beneath my level.½
