I received this book through LibraryThing.com.

"Holistic Motors" by Richard Haverkamp has too many plot elements to be coherent. The idea of an auto repair shop with a magical holistic aura is great and Mr. Havercamp should have kept that the center of the story. I can write that book in my head and it would be fantastic. Unfortunately Mr. Havercamp goes off in other directions.

The magic car is based on the TARDIS. The narrative style merges "American Gods" with "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas."

A good try but no home run.

The book's subtitle is awful. Much better without.

I received this book in a Members’ Giveaway on Library Thing.

I instantly appreciated the quirky narrative in Holistic Motors but it soon lost its appeal. The characters felt a little forced and their dialogue often pulled me out of the story.
I tried so much to love this book, but I just couldn't feel it, even though the prologue and epilogue were fantastically written.

I did not even come close to understanding this book. A car that travels faster than the speed of light but has a mind of its own, built by someone at Holistic Motors, an auto body shop surrounded by magically growing watermelon are the main characters.
The author writes wonderfully vivid descriptions of the people, places, and things in the book. He is an artist with words. I think this book has the potential to become a cult classic, I just wish it made sense.

This book is a fun read. I would love to travel around in a car that goes the speed of light. It is a "feel good" book and I read it at just the right time. I wish that I too could go eat watermelon in the waiting room. I want to know what happened with the storm to cause all the vehicles to act up. Some of the characters don't flow that well but then in the end you find the connection.

I would enjoy a sequel to this one.
