Quite a sweet, uncomplicated story. I think that maybe it should be aimed at a slightly younger age-group - 8-10 perhaps?I'm obviously a fair bit older than the target audience, and I did find it a little simplistic, but the story is an appealing one. Just one or two niggles with the writing really - I found there to be too much description of unimportant details, particularly clothes, while some sections of what seemed like fairly important plot were a little skimpy. The antagonist's son was only mentioned once, quite late on, in a throw-away comment - I would have thought he would have been more in evidence, or not mentioned at all.Other than that though, the characters are sympathetic, and I would be happy to pass it on to any 8-year-old of my acquaintance, if I knew any!(I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.)… (plus d'informations)

Escape and Betrayal by Annette Hart is a must read for young readers.

Bryony again finds herself at Kynbury Castle Unwin not only holds her prisoner but also plans to marry her to solidify his claim to the thrown.
Bryony finds she has friends who will help her who have been involved in the resistance without her knowledge. The day of her wedding she escapes the castle to the camp with her friends but soon learns it will not be so easy to escape the plans her cousin Unwin has made for her or the betrayals that have been apart of her life.
Bryony soon finds the easiest way to avoid one sham wedding might be to willing take part in another. From there she finds love, loses friends and soon discovers that if she wants to live her life on her terms she will have to take action.
This is a well written YA book that while set in an earlier time period is still friendly to young readers. The characters are well written and will draw you into their lives. I won this book from Goodreads First Reads and have already lost it to my daughter.… (plus d'informations)
