I you live in Southern California and are interested in books about the fire risks inherent to the area, this books is required reading. It was very readable and so very informative. it was a bit "on and on" in a few areas, but you can't please everyone. It seems that there is a more up to date 2008 version of this book now...

Learn about "fire following" plants and chaparral, obligate seeders and brush fire fighting strategy. Very interesting.
