Interesting idea, but in the 5 minutes after the class has started? Perhaps in the 5 minutes after a lesson has started.....The three main divisions (earth, life, physical) of the book help delineate topics well, but some overlap with each other. The correlations between these prompts and the Common Core and the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) are well done - each prompt is set up such that there is instant connection to a goal/learning outcome. Fun way to increase chances for students to think and write. The prompts can be done technologically or not, the choice would be the teacher's. A better index is needed.… (plus d'informations)

There is much confusion and misunderstanding about how to apply the Common Core standards (and others) to everyday school learning, especially at the early developmental ages. This book takes this challenge and divides it into three areas: inquiry, investigation and integration. There is a clear map to follow in each chapter - sections are introduced with what they will cover and what they will determine. More of this could be taken to technology, and certainly can be by the reader. The difficulty levels, the objectives and the supply lists are quite helpful as the teacher wends their way through the chapters. Collaboration with the teacher librarian would enhance these lessons, and make inquiry especially stronger. Worth reading and knowing about. Recommended.… (plus d'informations)
