Of all the 'speculative' lifes of Christ I have seen, this one is by far the most interesting. Gruber and Kerstein have Christ being raised up in Alexandria and studying with the Therapeuts (who, it turns out were Theravada Buddhists). Jesus becomes enlightened in the same manner as the Buddha, and goes to Isreal to convert the Jews. He gets crucified, but his devotees manage to rescue him (a-la Hugh Schonfield) and he lives out the remainder of his life in India! (And yes, you can find tombs of Jesus in India and throughout the far East. I've even seen photos of one that is in Japan!) Interesting speculation! Pretty good read!… (plus d'informations)

A thoroughly enjoyable ramble through history that was written with an eye toward the dramatic. The authors have set out not to disprove that the Shroud of Turin was the burial cloth of Jesus, but to prove he didn't die and the resurrection, as it is believed in, was a fake.
