Beautifully illustrated story of the first Thanksgiving, or Harvest Festival, from the Wampanoag point of view. Includes Wampanoag vocabulary and magical imagery. Lovely.

I loved seeing this as a new version of the Thanksgiving story from a Native American perspective. Stories of this tale are traditionally from the newcomer, pilgrim perspective since it is the written work that has survived. In light of this, author Danielle Greendeer, a citizen of the Mashpee Wampanoag Nation, worked on that foundation and that of Wampanoag traditional stories and understanding of corn, beans, squash, and the animals and land around them to create this new version of the harvest time, Keepunumuk.… (plus d'informations)

An excellent story from the Wampanoag point of view (actually, told by the three sisters, corn, beans, and squash).
