As expected the photos are fantastic. The text covers a wide variety of weather patterns including rain, hail, tornado, monsoon, and others.
Both the photos and text have an international, even intergalactic focus. Includes visual glossary and table of contents.

This book is about different types of storms. Can be used to discuss extreme weather, look at different text features, or create curiosity. This book could be used in a 1-2nd grade class.

Ages 3-8. This informational text provides an overview of the various types of weather we encounter. Amazing photos, onomatopoeia and scientific vocabulary will keep kids coming back to this interesting book.

This book is a great pairing for something like Patricia Polacco's fiction book, Thunder Cake. It would make a wonderful lesson on storms or weather. I liked the fun facts that were placed on some of the pictures in the book, however, it might be hard for some children to get through on their own simply because it is a non-fiction. It might be best if the teacher read it to the student, so that the teacher can make it more interesting and maybe engage the students more through questioning. The book itself is very informative and should definitely be highly considered when planning a weather lesson.

This book had pictures and was engaging. It is sometimes hard to make Thunderstorms be exciting, but this book does it well with all the information.

“Storms” is a nonfiction book by Miriam Busch Goin. The book talks about weather and the many different types of storms that we have around the world. Storms like hail, tornados, sands, blizzards, monsoons and hurricanes. This it is a National Geographic kid’s book level 1; it would be great for beginning reads. I like the jokes about the storms as well.

This was a fun book to read to my children the love the photo pictures of the people and the storms. It has become a favorite book in my home.

You could use this this book to do a unit on weathers or just storms. You could break it down and talk about one storm a day or week.
