Maryanne M. Garbowsky

A fascinating short bio of poetess Emily Dickinson, with emphasis on her reclusiveness and the theory that she suffered from agoraphobia. Garbowsky makes a great case for it, as agoraphobia does seem to fit. Garbowsky uses evidence from Dickinson's private letters as well as her poetry. The diagnosis of agoraphobia didn't exist in Dickinson's time, so it's extremely plausible she was suffering from an illness that no one understood nor knew how to treat.
