Filled with black and white photographs of the architecture of the early homes during the whaling era. This particular copy has only black and white photos, with introduction by Nathaniel Benchley.

Excellent black and white photographs of Nantucket. If you've ever had the good fortune to visit the island, Robert Gambee's photos and text will give you a sense of nostalgia. A yearning to return to experience the ambience of the island once again. For those who have yet to experience the island, the architecture and the small bit of history that accompanies many of the photos, will make you want to learn more about Nantucket and the early whaling years. You may even find yourself wanting to pull out that copy of Moby Dick to read once again.
