I don't read poetry often. But when I do, it's because I want to see emotion unrestrained from a story. Helle's collection of poetry is a great example of that. Several of her poems felt like she was writing me. Others made me think of the stories of those who have crossed my path as and made me feel something. It was truly lovely.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and have reviewed it willingly.

Helle Gade's poetry is passionate and vivid, communicating deep and raw emotion. This collection is so well written and so deeply felt: you know there is true emotion, true pain, true love and heartbreak in her words. I've followed her online for a while now and have come to have a deep appreciation for her poetry, as well as her photography and art. 'Nocturnal Embers' is highly recommended.

This is the author's first book of poetry, and a compelling start to her writing career.… (plus d'informations)

When I read, whether it be a poem, a short story, or a 500-page novel, what I want most is to be moved by the words. Helle Gade has a gift for doing exactly that. Her words paint a startling portrait of emotion. Each poem feels both personal and universal, as we are feeling her pain while looking at a reflection of our own.

I recently discovered Ms. Gade suffers from a chronic illness, and the perspective she offers here is one that resonates deeply with those of us dealing with similar health problems. To me, it feels as if she has given a voice to all the pain and turmoil associated with a lifetime of illness. But you don't need to have ever suffered with a lasting health problem to relate to this collection of poems. Helle Gade's writing goes to the heart of the human condition, which is something we can all relate to.… (plus d'informations)
