Four women come together to form a writers' group. We have Bunny DeLore, a virtual widow as her husband travels the world for his job, often with a "companion". And Jemima, a food column writer who blames her lima bean casserole for her husband's stroke. Mariah writes "bodice rippers", and struggles to look after her aging mother who's recently moved in with her. And Sari's husband has just run out on her, taking their 10-month old son along.

The characters aren't particularly deeep, but the plot moves along and is often darkly funny. Bunny plots revenge, but finds herself in helping others; Sari is rescued but worries the rescuer offers another trap; Mariah finds out her deepest secret isn't such a big deal and Jemima gets her life back on track after hubby's stroke.
