neat book on the early stages of the economic rot besieging rural places these days, perhaps a bit dated at this point but still worth reading. Her point that rural hasn't meant agricultural for a very long time was something of a revelation- I had slipped into the easy pattern of thinking that 'of course, we're farmers' this was never true for many rural places and hasn't been for most since WWII. Neat book.
