If you are looking for a cookbook with personality, then this is the one for you. I loved Elizabeth Fisher’s stories spaced throughout the book.

The recipes were very easy to make. They all used ingredients that you more then likely already have in your pantry. If they aren’t in your pantry, you can likely catch them for real cheap on sale or using coupons.

I know one of the things that happened to us was that we got stuck in a food rut. Since money has been tight, we seem to eat almost the same things week in and week out. Thankfully, this book helped to get us out of the rut. Now I am thinking outside the box and experimenting as well.

And you want to know what makes this book even better? You can get it for $1 at your local Dollar Tree. How many books can you say you bought brand new for $1 that were digital?

Tonight, I am making the recipe for Juliet’s Chicken. One thing that is great about it is that it says whichever oil you choose. Just by changing the oil around, you get entirely different flavors. Plus you can add spices to it to give it your own unique flair.

In conjunction with the Wakela's World Disclosure Statement, I received a product in order to enable my review. No other compensation has been received. My statements are an honest account of my experience with the brand. The opinions stated here are mine alone.

The author uses ingredients costing less than a dollar each to prepare her recipes. She suggests using not only dollar stores, but checking grocery stores and drugstores for specials and sales to find these ingredients.

For the most part, the book is exactly what you would expect. The recipes are all simple and easy to prepare in addition to being economical. Of course, the recipes use lots of prepackaged ingredients so if you are looking to avoid these kinds of ingredients this book is not for you. This book would be perfect for a family looking to economize money. However, there are a few flaws in the book. The author mentions that her editors kept telling her to be more precise in her measurements. I have to agree with the editors on that. For example, one of the recipes that I’m most interested in trying, Tea Biscuits, calls for one package of biscuit mix but does not say what size package. While I’m certain that I can probably figure out the size on my own, if I buy a cookbook, I like for the information in that cookbook to be exact. This problem occurs several times throughout the book. Overall, however, the book is not bad. It’s certainly not a necessary addition to your cookbook library, but if you’re looking to cut back on your spending this year, it might be helpful.

I suggest that you check out the author’s blog, Dollar Diva Meals, to get a sense of her writing style if you’re interested in the book.
