This is a large format book, with numerous illustrations, including both photos and diagrams. Although it was published in 1984, it seems to have many photographs from the seventies. The photos seem to be in a seventies palette. It seems to be have been written and edited a bit carelessly and contains the myth that educated people believed the world was flat in Columbus's day, as well as some other mistakes. It it interesting as an artifact of its time; it is hyped on computers, the very sort of computers that I interacted with at school and in college. The internet is unheard of.

But, setting aside the historical interest, there is no enjoyment or interest that can be obtained from this book. There are too many other books that do this better, including Irving Adler's large format Mathematics.… (plus d'informations)
