"During my teenage years at school, we had a guidance counselor who was on hand to help students decide what career to choose and what college/s to go to. At no point did he say to me, “Well, son, I think you’ll be able to make a pretty decent living driving cars well beyond their capabilities.” In fact, he told me that I was best suited to become a firefighter. Yeah, that didn’t sit well with me."

Arnie Beswick was destined for a long life on the family farm, but he chose a different path altogether – channeling speed into performance on the drag strip. This is something that I can relate to, and I guarantee that this is something most gearheads out there can relate to! Arnie’s passion for motorsport was infectious. He proved that life was certainly more enjoyable when it was spent chasing a dream instead of slaving away at a boring job earning a meager paycheck.

Drag racing is more than just a hobby to most, and to many, a certain wave of nostalgia comes over them when remembering what the car scene was like back in the day. If you’re into motorsports history, then this is definitely worth a read! The story of Arnie Beswick told using primary sources and vintage photography is both captivating and exciting. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

I really enjoyed this book. Reminded me of when drag racing was less of a big business. Beswick was a great racer, who managed to win races without a huge organization behind him. Great story, great photos. Great nostalgia for me!

Interesting book about Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick, a drag racer in the 50's through the 2000's. What is fascinating about his story is that while running a farm he managed to race and make a name for himself. It is interesting to see how dedicated these men are to do what they love and how the community seems to help each other out.
