Critiques

This work gives consideration to the lives of the civilians caught in the cross hairs of the fighting around the town of Sharpsburg, Maryland during the Civil War. Using diaries and letters , Ernst tells the behind the scene stories that are often shadowed by the military history of the Antietam campaign. The extensive notes and bibliography provide additional resources for the reader to consider.
