1999 was the last year this book was published likely because at almost 1,600 pages it had gotten too thick for any further binding. I preferred this series because it didn't use a headliner like Leonard Malkin or Roger Ebert; instead it was formed by a consensus of fifty-six presumably coequal contributors. It missed the director Stuart Rosenberg but has all his movies. The thumb nail reviews have always proven correct in my opinion, unlike the online reviews so I keep it close at hand.
